About

I like reading books, baking sweets, and making crafts. I'm passionate about social justice and mentoring young people. I'm incurably messy and most often forgetful. I love being with people, talking late into the night, and telling stories with lots of details. Really, I'm a simple girl with a simple goal--to love God and to love people.

In what feels like a former life, I was an 8th grade reading teacher in Mishawaka, Indiana, but now I call Haiti home. Here's how it happened: I came to Haiti in September 2010 on a grand adventure expecting to teach English for a year and then return to my life in Indiana. However, the Good Lord had different plans. I fell in love with Haiti--the beautiful mountains, the strong and resilient people, and ultimately an amazing man named Arold who I married on Dec. 30th, 2011.

Arold and I are both on staff with Mountain Top Ministries, working in a rural mountain school in Gramothe, Haiti. He's the school secretary/assistant principal/school nurse/leader of elementary chapel, and I teach English and computers in the high school. We're committed to empowering young Haitians to a) live their lives in a way that glorifies God and b) defeat generational poverty through education.
